Using The Google Display Planner: You can use your Google Adword account to find out the monthly estimate page view of any website. The process is very simple! You just need to go to the Display Planner of your Adword account and choose the “Search for new targeting ideas using a phrase, website or category”. Then, put the targeted website URL in the search bar (www.websitename.com- format) and click the “Get placement ideas” tab. You can get the international estimated impression data by removing country oriented search from campaign targeting.
After this, you can see your targeted website is listed below on the result page (see the picture). Now, click on the website to get the estimate weekly impression of Adsense ads for the website.
Well, it’s only the estimated Adsense ad impression per week, not the average weekly page view of your targeted website. You need to divide the results by 2.5 to get the actual estimated page view of the website. Because, Display Planner is showing approximately three units of Adsense ad impression for per user page view. After that, multiply the result by 4 to get the close idea of monthly (28 days) page view of your targeted website.
Using Alexa Data: Alexa data is also a good tool to get an estimated page view of any website. Although, the page view percentage data is only available to the paid members, but, still you can access the data via the website- Website Informer” for free.
Let’s see a sample page view calculation using Alexa data-
Daily Global Page view: To, determine the page view of any website using Alexa data (global page view percentage), first of all you need to know the daily average global page view of the entire internet. Here presenting the global daily page view-
Daily page view of Wikipidia.org is- 122M, that means- 122000000.
But, according to the Alexa estimated global page view percentage, the Wikipidia.org has received 0.448% of total global page view.
So, the mathematical equation is-The Global daily page view = (100/0.448) × 122000000 =27232142857.
Therefore, the formula to get estimated page view of any website is- {(Estimated daily global page view percentage from Alexa × 27232142857) /100} ×30.
Important note: The page view results come from two different sources, i.e. Google Display Planner and Alexa traffic data might be a little different. Because, Alexa counts every hits and Display Planner counts every valid impression.
After this, you can see your targeted website is listed below on the result page (see the picture). Now, click on the website to get the estimate weekly impression of Adsense ads for the website.
