According Facebook advertising strategy, advertisers can targeted their ads to most ideal peoples by choosing location,age,gender,interest,workspace, etc. Actually Facebook offered advertisers to target those people who will be interested for their ads. Now the point is, Facebook is a social media website and people use Facebook to connect with others and for sharing- photos, comment,opinions,etc. They never come to Facebook with a desire to buy something. If someone want to buy something or search something, then there is 100% chance to go to search engine or any online shopping website, not on Facebook.
Yes it is true that, here advertisers can expose their products to their perfect matching audience, but it is also true that their audience on Facebook could do nothing special for them. Recently in May,2012 General Motors said that "We are pulling $10 million worth of advertising spend on facebook", because they realize that- paid ads on Facebook have little impact on consumers' cars purchases.
Beside this 80% of total income of Facebook comes form paid advertisers. It's only happens because Facebook too popular. And for that advertiser are attract to Facebook. If any advertiser invest same amount money on search engine advertising campaign(like Google AdWords), then there will be more impact to their products than Facebook advertising campaign.
Now my question is "why people goes to Facebook advertising campaign?"
